About

We care for our clients

Our story starts in 2009 with Berni Smytz. A registered physiotherapist and Pilates practitioner, Berni wanted to teach people how to take charge of their health, transform their posture and eliminate pain.

Since then, our small team has grown, but our personalised approach to Pilates and physiotherapy has remained the same. We care for each and every one of our clients.

Our Team

Berni Smytz

With a career-long interest in preventative health, injury management and exercise rehabilitation, Berni brings together physiotherapy with Pilates to create supportive, personalised and results-driven programs for her clients.

Berni holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland and is an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Her love of health and exercise led to qualifications such as a certified group fitness leader, Barre instructor and accredited Pilates instructor (certificate IV) with the Pilates International Training Centre. She has also achieved certification in Kinetic Link Training (KLT) with internationally recognised physiotherapist, Wayne Rogers.

Emma Gray

Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor

Emma has combined her desire to help people, ability to problem solve and love of movement into a career of physiotherapy and Pilates instructing. Emma graduated from a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at University of Queensland in 2005 and almost immediately recognised the benefits of Pilates in her clients’ quality of movement and rehabilitation. She is a certified Pilates Practitioner with the Pilates Institute of Queensland and has taught mat and small group equipment classes for almost as long as she’s been a physio!

Emma enjoys treating a wide variety of different conditions including sports, vestibular, post surgical, neurological and of course anything musculo-skeletal! Expect her to provide you with a thorough assessment incorporating ultrasound scanning of your deep core muscles and functional movement tests if indicated. She will then have all the information she needs about your body and your diagnosis to curate the best treatment plan for you.

Manual ‘hands on’ therapy is an integral component to her physio treatments. Emma has trained in a wide variety of manual therapy including Muscle Energy Technique (MET), a unique, evidence- based approach for acute and chronic lower back conditions.

Outside of the studio, Emma enjoys exploring national parks and spending time with her young family.

Candice Graetz

Physiotherpiast and Pilates Instructor
Tennis Performance Specialist

Candice’s love for exercise and movement began when she was growing up playing sports, especially tennis. Over the years suffering from injuries she quickly realized the importance of keeping physically strong and flexible and saw the intertwining relationship of physical and mental health affecting the wellbeing of her and many others around her.

With an inspiration to help others, Candice went on to study a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Melbourne. Now with 10 years experience in private practice, she enjoys supporting her clients with an encouraging and empathic nature to gain confidence and trust back in their bodies.

She utilizes education, exercise therapy and manual therapy techniques including massage, dry needling and taping, tailored to each individual to maximize injury recovery, injury prevention, and improve overall health and function - so that her clients can return back to the activities, hobbies and sports they love doing!  Some of her interest areas include low back pain, hip pain and shoulder pain.

Candice has completed international Pilates training courses including Polestar Pilates, and DMA and loves teaching individual, and small group pilates classes. She is truly passionate about Pilates as it can be individually tailored to benefit all bodies and abilities, from beginner to advanced, injury to injury-free clients in a fun and supportive environment

After noticing how common pelvic floor related problems were in the community, she went on to study a postgraduate qualification in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation at Melbourne University. She wants clients to know that there is help out there, and not to suffer in silence.
