Frequently Asked Questions

  • Reformer Pilates is a form of exercise that uses a specialised piece of equipment called a reformer. Sessions are typically performed using the reformer, with each client performing the same or similar exercises. As these sessions don’t involve individual programs aimed at individual goals, these classes can’t be claimed with your Private Health Insurance (PHI). These classes are not typically instructed by physiotherapists.

Physiotherapy Exercise sessions, on the other hand, are prescribed and instructed by physiotherapists, with specific qualifications in Pilates. These sessions use a variety of traditional Pilates equipment and physio props to give you variety and help you meet your goals sooner, whether that be to recover from injury or manage chronic pain and move better. Exercises are tailored to your own specific needs and may include a combination of stretching, strengthening, and cardiovascular exercises. The focus is on correct form, safe progression of exercises and reaching desired outcomes. In addition, these sessions may be eligible for private health fund rebates.

  • Physiotherapy services may be claimable with your PHI.

To be eligible, you’ll need an Initial Assessment with our Physiotherapists and an annual reassessment to ensure your program remains relevant to your health needs.

Pilates cannot be claimed under PHI.

  • You have three options:

  • During your first appointment, your Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition. This will include a discussion of your medical history, an evaluation of your symptoms, and a physical examination. Based on this assessment, your Physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan focused on reaching your goals

Your assessment consultation will determine your specific needs. Whether that be directed towards ongoing physio treatment for your condition/injury OR commencing Physio Exercise Sessions privately, in duo or in group sessions (max 4 people).

For exercise classes, we’ll test your flexibility, general strength, core strength, functional ability and balance. From these results, we can design the best program for you to achieve results. If appropriate, we’ll provide you with your own individual home exercises program to supplement your program.

Please bring along any relevant scans or X-rays and check that you’ve completed your client registration form either online or in the studio.
